YOUR MOTHER YOUR SISTER YOUR DAUGHTER
Rape is controversial.
Victims and onlookers of the brutality generalize all men as bad people. But men aren't the bone of contention, education is.
No one genuinely teaches their children to respect women on a whole. We're taught to respect our own women, the women in our family to be precise. It's uncommon to disrespect your own mother, or sister or even daughter for that matter.
But are we educated to respect all women? Not necessarily.
These posters are a project that I worked on in a social design class.
Our prompt was to come up with a project that will change the perception of a present-day social issue. I chose rape, specifically targeting third world countries such as India and Peru.
The concept is to portray the victims of rape as witnesses of the two sides of a man when he rapes her.
These question are therefore directed toward rapists;
Do you realize that the same hand you used to touch your mother's feet as a sign of respect, is the same hand you used to grope that woman you raped?
Do you realize that the same hand you used to give away your daughter in marriage, is the same hand you used to lift the skirt of the woman you raped?
Do you realize that the same hand you used to cover the eyes of your sister playing the guessing game, is the same hand you used to cover the mouth of the woman you raped?
Now, how are they different from your mother, or your sister or your daughter?
